Llano Texas

Thank you for being patient with me as I have been under the weather suffering from this bad sinus infection. I'm almost finished with the medication pray that this medication knocks out the problem and I don't have to get something else more potent.

Two weeks ago we met with Bible Baptist Church in Llano, Texas where Bro. Bryan Minter is pastoring and at this time living with his family. Some strong young men helped us in with our very heavy sound system and what a blessing they were. God was already at work in these two young men and the service had not even started. The service went great and the spirit was sweet.  Pray for the Minter family as they continue building that church there in Llano. Also pray that God would provide a more permanent solution to their housing situation.

The service went really good and we enjoyed getting to see all the friends that we have met over the years at this church. My Dad and Mom came frequently to this church and Dad filled the pulpit on many occasions to help out the former pastor. They are almost like family when I see the people there. Its a nice reunion every time.

After the morning services the Spillers took us out to lunch and we all enjoyed a great time of food and fellowship. Bro. Harrod and I enjoyed hearing about how the Spillers got back together (they were high school sweethearts) after many years of living their separate lives yet similar lives in many ways. Its neat to see how God works in people's lives for their good!

From there we went on to Maranatha Baptist Church where we were welcomed and treated like brethren in the Lord. They wanted us to sing for them and we sang a few songs and the Holy Spirit was great in that service. We had a great time visiting with two large families that attend that church after services while the kids were enjoying their children on the play ground. Sweet times with friends in the Lord are like balm to our souls.

Every week Satan fights against what we are doing for the Lord. Continue to pray for us and what God is doing with us. I am going to try to put up another post promptly after this one for this past week. Bear with me as I try to keep up with everything. God bless and thank you for your prayers.

Crowley, Texas

Saturday morning we traveled up to Crowley Texas to be in Two special meetings at Fort Victory Baptist Church with Bro. Keisling and his church family.

The first meeting was a Building dedication and Hebrew scroll viewing. They have a recently finished beautiful building which we enjoyed singing several songs in and listening to testimonies as well as preaching.  We heard first from Bro. Payne then from the president of the Norris Bible Baptist Institute on the second day of the Bible conference. The scrolls were really interesting we got to see a whole old testament collection.

It was great to hear about the Pastor and work that was going on there and getting to meet some of the kind people and also meeting the associate Pastor, Bro. James who took the time to talk with us and teach us some great ways to minister effectively. His wife was also a special blessing to my husband and I by preparing special food for us that was sugar free. It was a real pleasure fellow-shipping with them and feeling God's presence in this place.

Whitley Texas

Beautiful Easter Morning!

It was another early morning for the Harrods as we set out for Whitley, Texas and Missionary Baptist Church. It was Easter so Bro. Harrod's Dad decided to follow us over to the meeting. He was ready before us and waiting. It was a blessing to spend Easter with one of our relatives especially since this was my first Easter without my Mother.

The drive over was smooth and the scenery was beautiful. I finally got to see the lake Whitney I had heard about so many years. Maybe one day we can return and check out the water more. We did get to take the kids to a beautiful park for the afternoon while some of us rested in the van for a while.

We found that our friend Pastor Allen Barrio was not feeling very well and immediately I began to pray for him and his family. They too travel a long way just to pastor this church. Its a sacrifice and was an honor for us to be with a man who deems the ministry worthy of his best!

We sang several songs and then heard an Easter message from Bro. Berrio. That Sunday there was dinner on the grounds and I could smell the wonderful cooking all service long. I knew something had to be delicious the way it smelled. My favorite dish of all was the cheesy potato casserole.

Bro. Weldon

We sat around after service and visited with Bro. Berrio and his children and sweet wife. Also a dear Bro. Weldon. We met several sweet folks and enjoyed our trip. We weren't sure where to go next so we bowed together in prayer and prayed about where to go next for our night service and wound up in Alvarado Texas with Bro. Tom Davis there. We had seen him earlier at the Fellowship and the Men of the Word Conference and I really enjoyed his preaching at the Fellowship we went to on our vacation.

Half of our kids were having really bad allergies and having problems with their voices but we made it in to the church there and found our places before the service started. I noticed that they had great music there with the pianist playing beautifully and wondered what kind of special music we were going to be in for. Just then the pastor saw us and spoke to my husband. Then I found out what kind of special music I would hear.

Talking to Bro. Tom Davis when he was filling up our van.

Zena had to stay back in the seat because her voice was not working at all for singing. The spirit was in it and we were able to do about three songs. God is good and holds us up when we are weak on our own. The preaching was great and we enjoyed learning that The pastor's wife was related to some friends of ours from church camp that we used to know. They even knew people from our home town. So maybe we will get back to visit and sing for them again sometime.

Singing to the folks at Burger King.

Please continue to pray for the ministry as we have many needs; our God is able and will supply!

Marion Texas

This Sunday we were scheduled at Marion Baptist Church with Bro. Rudy Elizando.

We went up a little early that morning and dropped in at Harvest Hill Baptist and visited with some friends that we met there at a fellowship for a little bit. There was a great Sunday School lesson on Godly Chirstian Music and a sermon about staying true to the word and your Christian beliefs.

After we ate we had to get some more prayer cards made so Lonnie worked on the prayer cards on his phone in the van and we took bathroom breaks and did a little resting in our van seats while he was working on them and printing them out at Walgreens.

Then we set the GPS and pointed the van toward Marion, Texas. We arrived early and I was feeling bad with a sinus infection and back ache so I took a nap in the van until it was time for us to do some set up and practice before the service. Before I got up the kids came out and showed me our newest instrument that God gave us or rather Nora to play for the Lord. She received a Mountain Dulcimer from a church member who didn't need it anymore and wanted to offer it to us. That was so neat because she was thinking about the dulcimer. She really loved the little hearts that are on the sides and we already have some new strings ordered. That was so exciting. We both met the Pastor and his wide Melissa and heard a little about the founding of the church and the background that they came from.

There was a great prayer time and the service got started with some sweet hymns. After the announcements and song service we got to sing several songs and start incorporated Zoi's mandolin into the group. She has already learned a few songs and it is sounding really neat with he group. Sometimes before a service Zeke and Zoi will play a few songs together and that is nice also.

We are very happy that we have a lot going on this month as far as meetings and places to go. Please pray for us as we go. Our van has some issues we are dealing with and we need it to travel.

Please keep up the prayers for the ministry of The Harrod Family:

  • pray for more supporting churches
  • pray for c.d. recording equipment
  • pray for c.d.'s to be made
  • pray for wireless mikes and smaller better speakers

    We went up North!

Last Friday we went up to the Fort Worth area to attend some meetings and get some more pastor contacts.

First off the teen boys in our family were lead by Bro. Harrod to the "Men of the Word" conference at Trinity Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas. That was on Friday night and Saturday. Bro. Harrod was really happy to see a lot of his old church friends and some pastors that were church members back when he and I were members at Trinity Baptist in the 90's.

While they were there at the conference the girls and Loty and I took a fun outing out our mission apartment door. The mission apartment we were staying in was in a Christian school and they had a great big sports yard there that the kids could run and play in. I let them play for a while and then I decided that we would have a few field day games and the competition was fierce.

Sunday we loaded up the crew and headed to the church that has the school building that we were staying in, "First Baptist church of Haltom City." The atmosphere was great; people were buzzing everywhere and we enjoyed the Sunday School hour feeling right at home. We sang for them in the morning service and they were eager to have us back in. Then we headed over to an afternoon service at King's Highway Baptist Church and sang a few songs for them and then after the service the Pastor was talking to Bro. Harrod in his office and the Pastor asked him if any of our kids was interested in a mandolin. Bro. Harrod knew right away that this was the mandolin Zoi was looking for. She was so incredibly excited about this gift and has been playing on it ever since. That night we went to Friendly Lane Baptist Church for the evening service and we saw some more old friends that used to go to Trinity Baptist and Bro. Bill Howe and his wife have a sweet church family and a beautiful building to serve our Lord in. We were asked to sing a song and we were amazed; this was one of the few churches that actually had enough mikes for our whole family. Now that's a lot of mikes. lol

While we were up there at the Men of the Word conference, Bro. Harrod was told about another meeting called, Independent Baptists of Texas & The Great Southwest. I had heard of this one through facebook and wanted to go to it last year so Monday night we loaded up and went to Bible Baptist Church in Rendon, where Bro. Winkle pastors.  It was great to get to see some more of our friends, hear them preach and fellowship with them some after the services. I even got to see a couple of people that I knew from going to church camp for many years and one I only knew from facebook. Its so special how God orders our steps and puts certain people together for our good and his Glory!

Tuesday morning we went to Sherman Texas for the Big Country Independent Baptist Preacher's Fellowship at Cornerstone Baptist Church where Bro. Crawford Pastors. We met many new faces and for a little bit felt out of place but soon got over that when we were asked to sing and God gave us a peace and comfort from his spirit there. We were able to hear some great preaching and the congregational singing was lively with great hymns. Praise the Lord for churches and pastors who stick by the old paths and continue on despite of age or opposition from the Devil.  WE were able to schedule with another pastor while there, Praise the Lord!

Zoi had already learned a song on her mandolin by then and played it for the Pastor that gave it to her, he was there at the fellowship. He really liked that and was having a great time with the kids.

That night we were invited to have supper with my husband's best friend, Bro. David Oldenkamp and his family. They are expecting their third child and God is using them to be a light in their community. We had a great time of refreshing and discussing the bible and how God is working in our lives and families.

Wednesday morning we wanted to go see my cousin Todd who is recovering from a bad car accident. He is in a facility that was in the area where we were and I really wanted to be a blessing to that family in any way that we could. Todd was such an encouragement to me in Bible college and encouraged me to be strong in the Lord! He and his family were there for me in my twenties and were my supportive family when I was away at Bible College.

We made arrangements to be there at around 1 or 1:30 and since we woke up later being on "vacation" we didn't bother having lunch and went on to meet up with my cousin, my Aunt and Uncle and Todd's wife Cherish. We began to sing and God moved in that room and in hearts to minister to the family that I so dearly love. Thank the Lord for his promised presence in our midst. "For when two or three are gathered together in His name!" Please continue to pray for my cousin and his family. He has come a long way but has many hurdles to get over and through in his recovery. He has lost vision in one eye and is now working on being able to have the use of his legs. He has gained much more movement in his arms and doing much more than most thought possible. Todd is an amazing man of God and I know that God is not finished with him yet!

Thursday we made our way back to Burnet slowly and went to some favorite spots on the way home. God is good! We worked on this vacation but the kids also got to do some playing in between. We would like to send a big thank you to the First Baptist Church in Haltom City for allowing us to stay in their great missions apartment; we enjoyed our stay. If it wasn't for them we wouldn't have been able to take this trip and see God expand our ministry as only he can.

Please keep up the prayers for the ministry of The Harrod Family:

    • pray for more supporting churches
    • pray for c.d. recording equipment
    • pray for c.d.'s to be made
    • pray for wireless mikes and smaller better speakers
    • pray for our electric piano to be repaired
    • pray for our bus to get remodeled
    • pray for our van to continue to work correctly or get a new one (God's will be done)]
    • pray for a open flat trailer to hall the the van behind the bus
    • pray for a closed in trailer to hall our instruments and sound equipment
    • pray for health and strength for the journey
Thank you for praying and giving we appreciate every prayer and need each one.

Cedar Valley and Waco and a Bonus Blessing!

Sunday morning we got up early to head to Cedar Valley. I hadn't slept much from my back hurting so I was praying about my energy level. I caught some rest on the way over and God blessed the services. Bro. Billy Barho taught on keeping God in your life it was really good with some points just for our children to glean. We were reminded to pray also for the "Days of Refreshing" coming up in March. There was lunch served afterward and the food was outstanding!

That afternoon we wanted to see a dear friend of ours that is in the hospital expected to see Jesus soon. We made it to Scott and White and found his room with all kinds of family and friends surrounding him in the waiting room and his patient room. Bro. Harrod asked if we could be a blessing to them by praying or singing for them. They said both would be good and that he responds the best to music. So we sang a few songs and prayed for Bro. Gentry and his family. His Mom and Dad were there and we had the privilege of meeting them; they are very sweet as well.

After we left the hospital we were off to find a church to drop into and see what God was doing there.

We set the GPS and made it to Evergreen Baptist Church . The music was beautiful and in the church had a sweet Spirit. The pastor had heard a sample of our music online and asked if we would sing for them one song at the beginning of the service and another at the end. God blessed that service the pastor taught on a generation who called on the Lord! Then he gave an invitation and God moved. One was saved and another wanted to join the church. We got to know the pastor and his wife and they were very interested in our ministry and it's needs. It's so nice to know the people if God care because you know they will pray.

Later that night before bed we got a call from Bro. Evans from San Marcus at Open Door Baptist. Bro. Harrod had found them a bus for sale at Bro. Dailey's church and got them the information. The people at Christ Bible Baptist donated that bus to Open Door Baptist. God a t work!

He sent us a text earlier that just thrilled our hearts.

Text message: First Sunday for the Bus Ministry. Bus was full. Even adults and teens came . We had 41 in Church. God really used you. Please find us a bigger bus. Lol

What a blessing that God would allow us to have a small part in His work! There was also a report of children coming to know the Lord in Sunday school. Glory to God for what he has done! The pastor was saying that there are so many kids that could be reached and that they could use a second bus, Praise The Lord! I can't explain how good that made us feel! It was just another confirmation that we are right where God wants us at the moment!

There were so many blessings. Plus we got a new teenager in the family! Zebedee is now 13 and he sings harmony. He loves to paint pictures on canvas, take nature walks, invent contraptions, crochet scarves etc. , explore his surroundings, talking to just about anyone, going to thrift stores, and being a cut up. He is my greatest birthday present ever, but we won't talk about how old I am. lol

    His favorite food is Italian.

Please pray for us as we travel.

    Prayer needs:

*Sound equipment that is up to date and more compact for travel.
    *Recording a c.d./mp3/etc.
*More Monthly Financial Supporting churches so that we can do this full time and see what God has for us to accomplish for him.
    * Remodel of our bus and possibly a trailer to pull behind for supplies and more sleeping area.
