Here and There a Little

(From the memorial)

This weekend was long and eventful even though we had no scheduled meetings in churches. Friday we packed the van and headed to a friends house in Corinth Texas. We needed to go to a Memorial for our dear Great Aunt Lenora and our friends lived in this area and offered to put our whole family up for the night. They were so kind to us and treated us like the host of yesteryear. We came in late and they stayed up to greet us and serve us homemade pizza! Oh the house smelled so wonderful as soon as we opened the door. Then they had areas for all of the kids to sleep in set up and ready to go. Plus they allowed us to have their room and they slept with their children. This was amazing! I remember doing this same thing back when I was little whenever a missionary would come through our church where my Dad pastored.  I would give the couple my bed and sleep on the pull out couch in the living room. I always thought it was such fun when I was little! It was nice thinking about how things come back to you when you give with a willing heart! God is so good!

Then the next morning we all had a homemade breakfast of pancakes and strawberries and even omelets. Wow Mrs. Oldenkamp can cook! It was healthy and tasty all at the same time. You can't beat that! Most of all we had a great time fellow-shipping with the couple, just wish we had more time to enjoy them before we had to go. Maybe next time!

Then we were off to the memorial and pot luck. It great getting to hear more about our great Aunt whom our youngest child Zenora was named after. She loved her grandchildren and best of all loved the Lord! I'm so glad we will see her again in Heaven! We were asked to sing a couple of songs there and that had to be the hardest time I've had singing with the family when we were all thinking about how we missed Aunt Lenora. She was definitely loved and will be missed much!

We came back home to attend a friends birthday party but on the way home I ha to get out and stretch because my hips were giving be trouble and when I did the van began to overheat. We then had to turn on the heater to get the heat off the engine the kids didn't feel that heat in the back because their blower is separate but us parents felt like we were turning into that nights supper. It was rough. We finally got to Lampasas and stopped there to cool off the van and replace fluids. God blessed and we had no more trouble with the van that night. Praise the Lord! Thank you for all who follow our facebook page and were praying for us during that trip. Prayer changes things!

Then we got up the next morning or rather we scraped ourselves up the next morning and headed to church with a song in our hearts! We always like to return to our home church in Temple. We were weary from travel but it was so nice to see a friendly face holler and give me a hug! There is nothing like being loved and knowing that people are in your corner! Thank you Calvary Baptist Church in Temple and Bro. Rick and Melinda Reed. We love ya'll so much!

After church we signed the kids up for church camp and then headed over to American Baptist Fellowship church a sister church that was having a meal and afternoon service. (God fed us through that church for lunch and they sent us home with our supper in foil!) We were a little late but they delayed a little so that we could hear most of the service and then sing for them. We got to hear our Pastor preach again and he was on fire!

Then we took an afternoon rest at back at Calvary on the church benches for a few hours some of us slept and some of us wished we could but at least took a load off of our feet. After a while we got up and got ready for heading over to another church we had planned to stop in and visit. Bro. Harrod visited with the pastor there for a while and then we headed home. Along the way we stopped at Bro. Sullivan's church and had a little picnic with the food that American Baptist prepared for us. (Bro. Sullivan we kind and told us it would be fine for us to use their patio since they were already gone home) They even included plates and forks. What great people and what a blessing of the Lord!

This can be a long hard tiring journey at times but it sure does help to have sweet friends in the Lord who truly love God and it shows!
