Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!

This weekend has been a huge blessing! The rains came and we had Bro. Harrod home so we wanted to get out and do something even though it was raining. We thought about what to do and finally came up with going to visit the capitol in Austin. The kids had never been and wanted to go so we were excited already.

We got there and it was raining so Bro. Harrod dropped us off real close and we hurried to the front door. We went through the medal detector and Zach had to be rechecked because of his watch I think. I think that may have raised his excitement level a little as well. lol

We checked out the very large paintings in the front entry and waited for Bro. Harrod to arrive. Once he caught up to us we enjoyed the great architecture and the stairs to the circular balcony. We decided that the acoustics were great in that building and we wanted to try out singing in the Capitol and see if they didn't run us off. It was great fun and we heard several people around the building clap when we finished it surprised us a bit. You can see us singing there on our face book page. I will try to add some more videos later we had a load of fun.

When we left the capitol again it was raining and we were walking out without umbrellas. (its hard to keep that many umbrellas) A man behind us offered to let me and the girls share his large umbrella. It worked somewhat but there was a lot of wind. I didn't mind a few drops. When we got to the main road there was a tour bus parked there and the man running the tour asked us if we wanted a free ride to our van in the parking garage. He said he was going that way anyway and we were so excited to ride in a tour bus. Riding in a tour bus made us think that we would be doing that soon on a regular basis when God gave us our own.

Sunday we got ready to go to Mountainview Baptist Church. I was in a lot of pain from my arthritis in my back and I was praying that all of that would clear up for the service.  We had a good time singing on the way in the rain. We set up the sound system and got ready to sing for the Adult Sunday School hour. The Lord is good and I began feeling a lot better after the services.

The Pastor is a 4th degree black belt and had some training equipment in his office that he was showing the younger kids while we were loading up the van and the older boys got to learn how to break a board. It was so fun for them because we have been praying about taking martial arts lessons for a long time. God is so good to give us some of the desires of our hearts along the way. The Pastor and his wife, Bro. and Mrs. Whitley offered to take us to Golden Corral. The kids had never been there and they thought we had died and gone to heaven! Lol. It was a good time of food and fellowship.

We decided to drop in at a church that night that we hadn't been to as a family, Northside Baptist in Killeen. We were met and greeted and some of the kids got to attend the Master's Club program going on in the back. They were just starting thier program back up again and there was snacks the kids enjoyed. The rest of us were pretty tired and enjoyed resting and looking around. Zach and I got a tour of the school building and baby quilt ministry room. The ladies there make quilts for needy families and distribute them to the fireman and police to help cover a child in some of the greatest time of need. It was really neat!

The pastor preached a great sermon on our adversaries within and without and our Great Advocate the Lord Jesus Christ! Then after church he wanted to hear us sing in the fellowship hall after the kids ate their ice cream left over from the Master's Club.

We were just about on our way back home when Bro. Harrod got us all together and told us that God had answered one of biggest prayers on our prayer list! Surprise we got a bus!!!! B-U-S! the folks at Charity Baptist church had voted to give us their bus that they were not using. It had been sitting for a while but the Pastor told us that it ran well when they parked it. the Pastor at Northside was so kind and prayed God's blessing upon our ministry before we left and we were on cloud nine as we jumped back in the van to see our new bus up close and personal!

Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!

better pictures to come. lol

God's handiwork!

Now Bro. Harrod , Zach and Zeke are off to work on the Bus and see if they can bring her home!

Thank you ALL so much for praying for our family and holding us up in prayer. This bus is a miracle from the Lord. We are looking forward to the great work that God has mapped out for us to accomplish with great joy. YOU were a part of that you prayed that bus in for us and your faith added to our faith has been great to keep us going. Its not all roses all of the time there are many everyday stresses in our lives and we are praying now for the funds to fix the bus the way God wants us to and praying about how we should do that. Sweetness!

Church was great at Charity Baptist Church in Killeen, Texas. The church was located in a community outside of Killeen and we left early Sunday morning admittedly very groggy and sleepy.

We arrived at the church in plenty of time to get things set up. Zach and Zeke heaved the tall speakers into the building and Dad set up the microphones while Zoi set up the display and crocheted items on a table in the foyer of the building. I was so proud to see how they were all working together to do God's work. While they were bringing in and setting up,  I was praying for God to join us and show him self powerful in this place!

Everything was set up so we practiced a few songs to check the sound quality and I got to help with that by sitting in different places in the auditorium and letting Bro. Harrod know which microphones needed to be adjusted. It was nice to be apart of everything as a family.  To be a part of a ministry that was custom built by God is an amazing journey of faith and not just on Sundays.

We sang and Bro. Harrod taught Sunday School and preached for the morning service then we took a break for a meal and fellowship. We met a whole group of friendly people who got along well with each other. It was sweet to be at a church that was definitely named properly. Charity is just what they had!

After our meal and fellowship time we returned to the auditorium for the afternoon service, where Bro. Harrod spoke on being someone's blessing. We had such a great time talking and listening to the pastor. There is a unique ministry there where the young are being bused in at every service and taught to be a part of a local church and the adults are being fed the word and encouraged to love each other, serve each other and grow in the Lord while doing so. It was wonderful!

That evening we headed back over to our home church so we could be with our home folks. We enjoy every opportunity to return home and be with the church that God placed us in. Our pastor and the people met us and welcomed us back home and it was a sweet time of reunion. Several of the members wanted to know how things were going and how my Mom and Dad were doing. Some even asked for our phone number and it was so nice to be thought of. During the week can be so hard to get through for us but oh it is so wonderful to see how God has sent some godly people to pray for us and care about what is going on in our world. Thank you Jesus!

Then pastor Reed asked Bro. Harrod to preach the evening service and I laughed but Bro. Harrod told him he had already preached three times but would love to preach again for our home church.
God was good and he spoke about really seeing a person and what they are needing and not just looking at them and passing by. God was good again in that service and hearts were stirred to serve Christ better by serving others.

A good Christian brother, Bro. Travis, took us out for supper before we drove back home and we had a wonderful time! We got to fellowship with him and hear how his life has been going and what we needed to pray about. He has been having some health concerns and he also needs some prayer for some family members if you would like to pray with us.

The zildren love talking and had spent some time talking to the cashier and she was very kind to them so we sang her a song before we left for her kindness. Then the ladies there made the kids some fresh ice cream cones and gave them to the kids for their singing. It was such a blessing. We brought them our prayer card and a track while inviting them to our next church service. Pray that God blesses this invite and gospel message!

Our day was wonderful and everyone felt like God had met with us. Our trip home was great and we just felt like singing all the way home.  I know more good things are on their way keep us in your prayers.

Thank you for your prayers this week!

Liberty Hill

This week we dropped in at Lampasas Baptist Church and enjoyed a great Sunday School lesson and Sunday sermon by Pastor David Richardson. Seeing them again was great and visiting with the members there was a treat.

We were able to head back home for lunch and a Sunday nap then on over to Liberty Hill Texas at Union Hall Baptist Church. We were scheduled there to Sing and Bro. Harrod to preach. The singing went great! Zach our oldest son and child, broke out of his comfort zone and sang his first solo. He asked to do this a while back and wow what a great job the Lord did through him.

Everyone there seemed to be very friendly and helpful. One lady I met there last time we had dropped in, told me that she had our card from last time we came and was praying for us. I told her that we could feel her prayers when we were broke down on the side of the road a little while back. She said she would continue to pray. This means so much to us! You will never know how the Devil attacks us on a daily basis and desires to "sift us like wheat!" from Like 22:31

While at Union Hall we were able to reconnect with a sweet family the Larkins that we used to go to church with years ago. Its always to good to see old friends and see how God has kept them in the faith.

Our dear friends, The Thompson's, came over to join us last night and we were so happy to see them. God is good to give us such great friends in the faith. It was a great encouragement to see them there! Damaris Thompson too a video of us singing and it is on our facebook page. We are not perfect singers but we are doing what God called us to do and want to be a blessing to others. If you are not following our face book page yet just click on the link above.

On the way home we stopped in at a Dominos that was next to the gas station and enjoyed a some fresh pizza. The kids got up close seating and were able to watch the employees make the pizzas. There were exactly 7 chairs there waiting for them and we were the only ones in the place. God is good to think of us like that.

After we ate the manager asked if we would like an extra pizza on them to take home with us. So of course we couldn't turn that down and now we have lunch for today! I just felt like God was showing us his tender care for his children and letting my heart know that this faith walk we are on is of him and he will always take care of us! Praise the Lord for his goodness to his people!

We had to sing them a short song for being such great hosts!

Thank you for your prayers this week!

Filling Up The Tank!

The kids had a fun filled week at Vacation Bible School here at Northside Baptist in Burnet. The preacher and his church are always so kind to invite our kids every year. I got some Ebay listings done and my hard working husband worked two days on our van and finally got it back together and working again.  After worrying about our van all week and finally getting it to work again our family needed to refuel in the house of God!

We traveled to Temple and made it the whole way without any overheating which was a super big blessing! Our Pastor, Bro. Reed preached hard and strong on having a strong testimony; being the light of the world. I really appreciated this message and was looking forward to hearing Bro. Rodriguez, missionary to Durago, Mexico.

We decided to pick up some food at McDonalds and then go out and go soul winning in Temple before the night service. We were getting ready to go load up the kids in the van when a kind Christian brother, Bro. Travis (who was helping Zeke with his guitar playing,) offered to pay for our meal. This was a true answer to prayer.

We ate with Bro. Travis and another great Christian brother Bro. Jesse and enjoyed their Christian fellowship. Then we cleaned up our places and headed down the road to find the perfect place to hand out some tracts and share our faith. The weather in Texas is pretty hot and humid right now so we were boiling because we still need to do a little work on our air conditioning system. (little by little)

So we opted to go into a strip center and hand out tracts in the a.c. All went well and we were able to distribute several tracts and meet several people. This past week some of the kids asked to go pass out some tracts around the neighborhood and that too was very hot. But I was so happy that they wanted to give out some tracts and go soul winning! I always want my children to be soul conscious.

That night Bro. Rodriguez and his wife Mildred came and he blessed us with a super sermon on having a good sense of the fear of God in you! How that many people and children are growing up without any fear of God in their lives. He explained how that having no fear of God and acting recklessly in sin can cause you to loose your testimony and even loose your life!

Both messages were spot on and exactly what we needed to fortify our Christian lives and move forward for Christ!

After the services were over we went and got some food from a pizza place and parked in a parking lot to eat it. We were finishing up when my husband met a couple who asked for help. They had been living on the streets and wanted some money to stay in a motel. My husband wisely does not give out money to strangers and offered to help with their bill if they could make it to the motel just down the road.

They said that they could and we gave them lots of time to get there driving back and forth to see if they were walking that way, but they never showed up. We used this as a teachable moment and explained to the children that sometimes the homeless have addictions they are feeding and such like and they are really not wanting what they say that they want. That is why we never offer cash.

We really wanted to help a needy people and by having the opportunity to share the gospel with them. We know this is the best help but we didn't have a chance to do this in the parking lot because the security man ran them off. It was a bit sad but we knew that God had a reason for delaying our return home. Maybe time will tell just what all the reason was. We did have a chance to give the security man an invitation to our church which we hope will bring another visitor.

We finally made it home last night at about midnight. We were very sore and tired from our ride but so glad that our van did what it was supposed to and my dear husband was able to finally find its problem and get it fixed. Still praising the Lord for his goodness: we fell in our beds and rested our weary heads.

A Good Work

Hello Friends,

The meeting in Rockdale went very good. We left early in the morning around 7am from our house in Burnet, Texas and headed toward Rockdale. As we got closer to our destination we began to see beautiful landscapes of green fields and nice tall trees we even got to go through a canopy of trees like a tunnel over our road; we always love it when that happens. Its great just to recognize the paintings and sculptures that God makes for us to enjoy.

We practiced singing on the way in the van as we usually do. Zeke and Zoi already practiced their new song in the yard before we took off from the house. I guess the neighbors got an ear full. We arrived at God's house happy and ready for God to use us.

Bro. Harrod, Zach and Zeke took our sound system in. Zach and Zeke got their muscles exercised with those heavy speakers, I guess that is their "gym membership". We located a table for our display and crocheted items to add to our bus fund. We found the table and they even had a great table cloth that really made our table look great! A special thanks to the people of  Landmark Baptist Church who came early to open up the church for us!

A sweet lady who donated to our bus fund and got some hand made wash clothes.

It was so nice to meet all of the people there and see their willingness to help us in anything that we might be looking for or need to set up. We were filling the pulpit for Bro. Thomas Cordova and the people there were ready to serve and made us feel right at home.

The service was great. We enjoyed the song service lead by Bro. Loddie and he even gave us a copy of the world's smallest Bible which was a blessing to our hearts. He was a very interesting man to listen to and get to know. My husband had a real good time talking with him.

bible on one page

We sang several songs there, about 25 songs and Bro. Harrod got to preach 3 different times; one sermon was a great salvation message that God recently put on his heart. I'm sure someone needed that message so pray that it will be used there to encourage the saved to spread the gospel or to bring the lost to salvation even now; we know God's word will not return void!

Bro. Loddie and Bro. Harrod

After a great lunch prepared by the ladies, we loaded up our equipment and headed back to our neck of the woods where we were expected at Northside Baptist in Burnet for Vacation Bible School. (our home church in Temple was having Vacation Bible School and we were a bit sad that we couldn't go up everyday to Temple for that but it would be too hard to do every day. When we got home last Sunday we saw a door hanger for the Vacation Bible School at Northside that we have been going to for years and we were so happy that the church there thought of us again and left that invitation for us. ) That was another way that the Lord showed us that he still loves us and is taking care of our every need!

The closer we got to home the more we began to see that our van was not traveling well again. It had began to overheat and was not cooling down. We turned the heater on, we added more water, we added coolant, my husband even noticed a messed up hose. A good Samaritan at the gas station in Georgetown where we were stopped, asked if there was a way he could help and Bro. Harrod asked him to take him to the parts store to replace that hose. After that we waited, but to no avail. While we were waiting for the van to cool down my husband got to help a lady that had stopped by to get some air in her tires and he found out that she lived in Killeen, Texas so we gave her one of our cards that had the name of our church on it and invited her to Calvary Baptist in Temple. She sounded real interested and did not have a church home yet since she was new to the area. We said after that that maybe that was the reason we had ended up stopped in that particular location because nothing is an accident with God!

We thought maybe it had cooled down enough to drive home and then we ended up back at the gas station. We again made it a little ways down the road and we decided that it was just not going to work to drive home because it was super hot. So we began praying about our next move. We thought of some friends that had a trailer and called them to come and pick us up but they couldn't take all of us so when a kind lady and her daughter offered to wait there with us and drive a few of us in her car, that was a definite answer to prayer.

Our poor children and their poor parents (smile) were quite worn out from all of the waiting and the hot sun. They were being troopers and tried to make the best of it some were passing a ball around another was reading the Bible, some practiced the guitar and others had to rest as much as possible in the van.  Needless to say part of the time I was looking on the internet for a bus and my cousin offered to keep a look out for us as well. You never know who God may use to answer that prayer.
It was really wearing on us when our rescuers showed up and saved our day or rather night by this time.

Zach reading and memorizing Psalm 119

It was good to see our friends the Hubbard's and know that they hadn't forgotten us. They are the best! Hugs went all around and I and a couple of our girls had to take off with the lady that had been waiting so long so that she and her daughter could get home. Pray for them as they are looking for a church and we gave them several that they could check out. God was using us to help get others in a good church home. I'm so glad about that because at least all of that discomfort wasn't for nothing. Oh yes I didn't mention another man who had stopped by and we gave him a card as well so maybe that had an effect for Christ as well. I sure hope so! Please pray for all of these good Samaritans! Its nice to know that Texas is still friendly.

I don't know what tomorrow holds for us. Unfortunately the kids didn't make it to the first night of Vacation Bible School because of our van problems; but yesterday, Bro. Frazier was kind enough to come by and pick up the kids for Vacation Bible School. Thank you Jesus for taking care of us! Please continue to pray about our need for reliable transportation and a bus to tour in.
