Liberty Hill

This week we dropped in at Lampasas Baptist Church and enjoyed a great Sunday School lesson and Sunday sermon by Pastor David Richardson. Seeing them again was great and visiting with the members there was a treat.

We were able to head back home for lunch and a Sunday nap then on over to Liberty Hill Texas at Union Hall Baptist Church. We were scheduled there to Sing and Bro. Harrod to preach. The singing went great! Zach our oldest son and child, broke out of his comfort zone and sang his first solo. He asked to do this a while back and wow what a great job the Lord did through him.

Everyone there seemed to be very friendly and helpful. One lady I met there last time we had dropped in, told me that she had our card from last time we came and was praying for us. I told her that we could feel her prayers when we were broke down on the side of the road a little while back. She said she would continue to pray. This means so much to us! You will never know how the Devil attacks us on a daily basis and desires to "sift us like wheat!" from Like 22:31

While at Union Hall we were able to reconnect with a sweet family the Larkins that we used to go to church with years ago. Its always to good to see old friends and see how God has kept them in the faith.

Our dear friends, The Thompson's, came over to join us last night and we were so happy to see them. God is good to give us such great friends in the faith. It was a great encouragement to see them there! Damaris Thompson too a video of us singing and it is on our facebook page. We are not perfect singers but we are doing what God called us to do and want to be a blessing to others. If you are not following our face book page yet just click on the link above.

On the way home we stopped in at a Dominos that was next to the gas station and enjoyed a some fresh pizza. The kids got up close seating and were able to watch the employees make the pizzas. There were exactly 7 chairs there waiting for them and we were the only ones in the place. God is good to think of us like that.

After we ate the manager asked if we would like an extra pizza on them to take home with us. So of course we couldn't turn that down and now we have lunch for today! I just felt like God was showing us his tender care for his children and letting my heart know that this faith walk we are on is of him and he will always take care of us! Praise the Lord for his goodness to his people!

We had to sing them a short song for being such great hosts!

Thank you for your prayers this week!

Filling Up The Tank!

The kids had a fun filled week at Vacation Bible School here at Northside Baptist in Burnet. The preacher and his church are always so kind to invite our kids every year. I got some Ebay listings done and my hard working husband worked two days on our van and finally got it back together and working again.  After worrying about our van all week and finally getting it to work again our family needed to refuel in the house of God!

We traveled to Temple and made it the whole way without any overheating which was a super big blessing! Our Pastor, Bro. Reed preached hard and strong on having a strong testimony; being the light of the world. I really appreciated this message and was looking forward to hearing Bro. Rodriguez, missionary to Durago, Mexico.

We decided to pick up some food at McDonalds and then go out and go soul winning in Temple before the night service. We were getting ready to go load up the kids in the van when a kind Christian brother, Bro. Travis (who was helping Zeke with his guitar playing,) offered to pay for our meal. This was a true answer to prayer.

We ate with Bro. Travis and another great Christian brother Bro. Jesse and enjoyed their Christian fellowship. Then we cleaned up our places and headed down the road to find the perfect place to hand out some tracts and share our faith. The weather in Texas is pretty hot and humid right now so we were boiling because we still need to do a little work on our air conditioning system. (little by little)

So we opted to go into a strip center and hand out tracts in the a.c. All went well and we were able to distribute several tracts and meet several people. This past week some of the kids asked to go pass out some tracts around the neighborhood and that too was very hot. But I was so happy that they wanted to give out some tracts and go soul winning! I always want my children to be soul conscious.

That night Bro. Rodriguez and his wife Mildred came and he blessed us with a super sermon on having a good sense of the fear of God in you! How that many people and children are growing up without any fear of God in their lives. He explained how that having no fear of God and acting recklessly in sin can cause you to loose your testimony and even loose your life!

Both messages were spot on and exactly what we needed to fortify our Christian lives and move forward for Christ!

After the services were over we went and got some food from a pizza place and parked in a parking lot to eat it. We were finishing up when my husband met a couple who asked for help. They had been living on the streets and wanted some money to stay in a motel. My husband wisely does not give out money to strangers and offered to help with their bill if they could make it to the motel just down the road.

They said that they could and we gave them lots of time to get there driving back and forth to see if they were walking that way, but they never showed up. We used this as a teachable moment and explained to the children that sometimes the homeless have addictions they are feeding and such like and they are really not wanting what they say that they want. That is why we never offer cash.

We really wanted to help a needy people and by having the opportunity to share the gospel with them. We know this is the best help but we didn't have a chance to do this in the parking lot because the security man ran them off. It was a bit sad but we knew that God had a reason for delaying our return home. Maybe time will tell just what all the reason was. We did have a chance to give the security man an invitation to our church which we hope will bring another visitor.

We finally made it home last night at about midnight. We were very sore and tired from our ride but so glad that our van did what it was supposed to and my dear husband was able to finally find its problem and get it fixed. Still praising the Lord for his goodness: we fell in our beds and rested our weary heads.

A Good Work

Hello Friends,

The meeting in Rockdale went very good. We left early in the morning around 7am from our house in Burnet, Texas and headed toward Rockdale. As we got closer to our destination we began to see beautiful landscapes of green fields and nice tall trees we even got to go through a canopy of trees like a tunnel over our road; we always love it when that happens. Its great just to recognize the paintings and sculptures that God makes for us to enjoy.

We practiced singing on the way in the van as we usually do. Zeke and Zoi already practiced their new song in the yard before we took off from the house. I guess the neighbors got an ear full. We arrived at God's house happy and ready for God to use us.

Bro. Harrod, Zach and Zeke took our sound system in. Zach and Zeke got their muscles exercised with those heavy speakers, I guess that is their "gym membership". We located a table for our display and crocheted items to add to our bus fund. We found the table and they even had a great table cloth that really made our table look great! A special thanks to the people of  Landmark Baptist Church who came early to open up the church for us!

A sweet lady who donated to our bus fund and got some hand made wash clothes.

It was so nice to meet all of the people there and see their willingness to help us in anything that we might be looking for or need to set up. We were filling the pulpit for Bro. Thomas Cordova and the people there were ready to serve and made us feel right at home.

The service was great. We enjoyed the song service lead by Bro. Loddie and he even gave us a copy of the world's smallest Bible which was a blessing to our hearts. He was a very interesting man to listen to and get to know. My husband had a real good time talking with him.

bible on one page

We sang several songs there, about 25 songs and Bro. Harrod got to preach 3 different times; one sermon was a great salvation message that God recently put on his heart. I'm sure someone needed that message so pray that it will be used there to encourage the saved to spread the gospel or to bring the lost to salvation even now; we know God's word will not return void!

Bro. Loddie and Bro. Harrod

After a great lunch prepared by the ladies, we loaded up our equipment and headed back to our neck of the woods where we were expected at Northside Baptist in Burnet for Vacation Bible School. (our home church in Temple was having Vacation Bible School and we were a bit sad that we couldn't go up everyday to Temple for that but it would be too hard to do every day. When we got home last Sunday we saw a door hanger for the Vacation Bible School at Northside that we have been going to for years and we were so happy that the church there thought of us again and left that invitation for us. ) That was another way that the Lord showed us that he still loves us and is taking care of our every need!

The closer we got to home the more we began to see that our van was not traveling well again. It had began to overheat and was not cooling down. We turned the heater on, we added more water, we added coolant, my husband even noticed a messed up hose. A good Samaritan at the gas station in Georgetown where we were stopped, asked if there was a way he could help and Bro. Harrod asked him to take him to the parts store to replace that hose. After that we waited, but to no avail. While we were waiting for the van to cool down my husband got to help a lady that had stopped by to get some air in her tires and he found out that she lived in Killeen, Texas so we gave her one of our cards that had the name of our church on it and invited her to Calvary Baptist in Temple. She sounded real interested and did not have a church home yet since she was new to the area. We said after that that maybe that was the reason we had ended up stopped in that particular location because nothing is an accident with God!

We thought maybe it had cooled down enough to drive home and then we ended up back at the gas station. We again made it a little ways down the road and we decided that it was just not going to work to drive home because it was super hot. So we began praying about our next move. We thought of some friends that had a trailer and called them to come and pick us up but they couldn't take all of us so when a kind lady and her daughter offered to wait there with us and drive a few of us in her car, that was a definite answer to prayer.

Our poor children and their poor parents (smile) were quite worn out from all of the waiting and the hot sun. They were being troopers and tried to make the best of it some were passing a ball around another was reading the Bible, some practiced the guitar and others had to rest as much as possible in the van.  Needless to say part of the time I was looking on the internet for a bus and my cousin offered to keep a look out for us as well. You never know who God may use to answer that prayer.
It was really wearing on us when our rescuers showed up and saved our day or rather night by this time.

Zach reading and memorizing Psalm 119

It was good to see our friends the Hubbard's and know that they hadn't forgotten us. They are the best! Hugs went all around and I and a couple of our girls had to take off with the lady that had been waiting so long so that she and her daughter could get home. Pray for them as they are looking for a church and we gave them several that they could check out. God was using us to help get others in a good church home. I'm so glad about that because at least all of that discomfort wasn't for nothing. Oh yes I didn't mention another man who had stopped by and we gave him a card as well so maybe that had an effect for Christ as well. I sure hope so! Please pray for all of these good Samaritans! Its nice to know that Texas is still friendly.

I don't know what tomorrow holds for us. Unfortunately the kids didn't make it to the first night of Vacation Bible School because of our van problems; but yesterday, Bro. Frazier was kind enough to come by and pick up the kids for Vacation Bible School. Thank you Jesus for taking care of us! Please continue to pray about our need for reliable transportation and a bus to tour in.

The Perfect Day!

Yesterday was great! We were scheduled to have Bro. Harrod's Ordination in the evening service and my Mom and Dad were going to get to come. My Dad was giving the charge! But I am getting ahead of myself.

Early in the Morning we set out to travel to our home church Calvary Baptist in Temple, Texas. Bro. Reed wanted my husband to be ordained and sent out of the church as a missionary/evangelist. The morning services were very uplifting and hot! Bro. Reed was preaching on the grace of God and when he gets excited well sometimes things topple over. It was great I like to see men preach with excitement! It really keeps one from falling asleep in the services. That evening was when we were supposed come before the ordination counsel. We got some rest on the church pews between service and then got up to wait on our guests.

That night we were expecting some great friends the Oldenkamps from the Dallas area and the Thompsons from Marble Falls, Texas, who were bringing my Mother and Father to the service.  We were so excited as we waited and then some of the men of the counsel started arriving first Bro. Sullivan from Killeen, a sweet pastor friend of ours for years. He and his wife came and gave us a great report of how his new church building project was almost finished.

The Oldenkamps

It wasn't too long before the counsel and my Parents arrived with The Thompsons, Bro. Jordan and Damaris, his sweet wife. Then, the other members of the counsel Bro. McCoy a dear friend and evangelist, my dad, Bro. James Hoover and our Pastor Bro. Rick Reed. I was invited to set in on the counsel just in case the men had any questions for me as the wife. There were a lot of good questions and some sage advice given as well. We took notes and read scriptures together. It was a really good time of focusing on the great ministry before us!

The Thompsons

Bro. Harrod passed his ordination counsel with flying colors and we were pleased to move on to the music and messages by Bro. Reed and Bro. Hoover. It was so wonderful to have my parents in the service with us. ( My Mother was able to be there and had a great time visiting with old friends.)
Bro. Reed gave a mini charge and Bro. Hoover took his time and did a great job reminding us of our great responsibility to give out the gospel in Christian love!

When the service was coming to an end we were asked to come forward and kneel in the front of the church and all the men of the church came and prayed for my husband and our family while our friend Bro. David Oldenkamp prayed aloud. I was crying great tears of joy! It was almost like getting married again or something; I didn't want this moment to end. I could feel God's presence on on very strongly. God is so good!

Bro. David Oldenkamp

Afterward I split myself between our two friends and their families trying to spend some time with both plus checking on my parents and children now and then. I enjoyed every minute of it! I didn't even feel that tired. I had some God given energy from the joy that was in my heart! Praise the Lord for a great Christian family and the heritage we have! I don't ever want to take it for granted!

So thankful for the church and the counsel and to God for putting us into the ministry!

Amazing Blessing!

I can't express to you the utter blessing we have experienced at Texas Baptist Church! I really can't imagine there is another church remotely like it in the world! Bro. Keith Bell and his wife, staff and church family were full of the spirit and fire of God. There was some real religion going on there. Church was in session! These people were eager to serve and full of excitement for the ministry God has placed them in.

When we arrived late on Saturday night a preacher boy (Bro. Tony Orosco) met us and let us in the church to set up our sound system and showed us in to the two prophets chambers. The prophet's chambers were wonderful. All of the kids had a bed the boys in one room and then the girls had a set of bunk beds and we had our air mattress along and set it up in the girl's room; it was great! This was the first time we have seen a prophet's chambers that had a bed for everyone we could have even doubled up some of the boys and used their bed room. They fed us by leaving a great gift basket with snacks and fruit and in the kitchen they had food left for us for breakfast and lunch. The folks there were the down home type even in a big city.

Our room! I know we are messy. lol

We were so privileged to be able to minister to these people. The people of God at the church were loving and kind. We had a great time running over to the homeless ministry they had in their gym and singing a couple of songs there for those hurting people! This was our first time to be included in this type of ministry and it was great for the kids to see these people and pour their voices into touching these people with the message of the hope of Jesus! It touched me so much, I found myself praying all through the regular service for God to work in Preacher Tony there and to use the songs that we sang. At the end of the service Bro. Tony brought in 2 people who had been saved and they got baptized. Praise the Lord!

Bro. Tony leading 2 homeless people to the Lord!

Then Bro. Harrod was surprised when after I forgot his neck tie and asked the pastor if we could borrow a tie from him. When Bro. Harrod got up to teach Sunday School with the tie that the preacher's wife brought for him on, then Bro. Bell took off his tie and gave him that one also. He then began to encouraged other men from the congregation to add their tie around my husband's neck. The men were eager to not wear their ties for the day and we couldn't get over the tie offering and the joy of the Lord it brought to our family. (we love Bro. Bell a real man of God and a hoot as well) To be loved like this! God is so good to us! This was so touching to our hearts. It was also a healing ointment to this heart of mine. You get so tired of people who are just going through the motions and it is so wonderful to see people who aren't afraid to enjoy the Lord!

2 Corinthians 9:7 - Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, [so let him give]; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

If you look close you can see a bunch of ties hanging around his neck. lol

Bro. Harrod was trusted to preach 3 different times in the services there and God sent his spirit to bless each time. Our family were able to sing three different times as well. Plus between services we were able to leave some recorded piano music so that they can use it for singing specials. That was fun as well! (The piano there records onto cd so that they can have their background music for specials)

The kids had worked hard on making some pony tail holders for us to sell for donations and give a boost to the bus fund helping our family get down the road more comfortably. We expected maybe to sell a few but the Pastor brought the hair bands up and every one of them was sold and he bought some as well! I just can't explain what this did for our spirits! God is working in our midst. He is doing things above what we can ask of think! What an awesome God we serve!

In the evening service we found out that Texas Baptist was going to take our ministry on for support! Wow we didn't even expect this. I think Bro. Harrod and I were in tears and maybe some of our children as well. We were just talking about how that we needed to start talking to pastors about monthly support and God just blessed without it being mentioned. I think God was just reassuring us that we were doing the right thing and in the right place! Wow God just can not be praised enough for how he takes care of us!

z-kids creations- crocheted hair ties/bracelets (5 of the z-kids make these)
After the services we ate our supper left for us in the kitchen again. (It was like the story of the elves and the shoe maker) The boys and Lonnie loaded up the sound equipment and the girls and the younger ones packed up our belongings. Our next stop was to drive a couple of hours and drop off the kids at Menard for Youth camp for the very first time. We finally got in the van at 11 and made it in to Menard at around 1 am. We didn't have the address but we found a little info on the internet about it being across from a river. We went around one direction and didn't find it so then we decided it must be on the other side of the river and went back the other way and finally spotted the sign then the whole van shouted for joy! We drove around looking for what would be the dorms and then I spotted a bunch of vehicles and knew this had to be it! I climbed out of the van and ventured to a door that was marked Girls dorm. I took a peek through the girls dorm door and found someone who wasn't too far asleep. Thankfully there was a kind woman that was still awake and she got on her cel phone and woke up her husband so that we could get both the girls and the boys situated into their bunks and safe for the night. I'm sure they were ready for a bed!

The kids were all snug in their beds and we kissed, hugged and prayed with them before we left and experienced the odd quiet in our van all the way home. I couldn't help but pray for the kids and pray that we didn't run into a deer crossing the road because they were everywhere. We made it home 2 hours later and Bro. Harrod was able to get about 3 hours of sleep before he headed off to work in Austin an hour away. Please pray for him as he works today. Also, please continue to pray that we can get a bus that will work for our family and take us on the road so that my husband can quit his job and not be burning the candle at both ends!

On the bright side maybe we can get a little rest now that the kids are away at camp. I have already checked in with their counselors today and have seen great pictures of my children having fun at camp! Praise the Lord! It was hard for me to leave them but I know we both needed it! Pray that God will give them a great time of fun, Christian growth and fellowship!

What we saw when we arrived! lol
I'm so glad God placed us into this ministry and this is the way we spent our weekend. We didn't get much sleep but it is good to be spent for Jesus! Keep praying for the Lord to lead us to our next appointment!
