Stranded But Not Alone!

This Sunday my husband was scheduled to receive his license to preach. (In a few weeks he will be ordained as well) All we had to do is drive over to our home church in Temple and wait for that moment. That was easier said than done.

Our van had started the bad habit of overheating and my husband worked the entire Saturday on that problem with no remedy. He changed the radiator to a brand new one and did all the right things he thought and still it overheated. So we all got together (and you should have seen this the neighbors probably thought we lost it) and layed hands on the van and one by one cried out to God from the bottoms of our heart for him to answer our prayers for reliable transportation to church the next day.

The next morning by faith we loaded up the kids and hit the road for the next step of faith!

We were on our way and stopped about 20 minutes or so before we got there to get some snacks and take care of business. When we got back to the van it was running hot and we tried to cool her down but it just wasn't working so we turned off on this road because we missed our turn in all of the hullabaloo. It was only 10 minutes to our church but she had to cool down.

We stopped beside a pond and the boys began refilling our water vessels and running them back to my husband, Bro. Harrod. Unfortunately it really was going no where fast. We text our preacher to let him know what the situation was and meanwhile a kind passerby ( the good Samaritan) came and offered his help. He was persistent and didn't leave until he had followed us all the way to the church. What a great servant of the Lord he was and a great example to his daughter that was in the truck with him.

We made it in and found out we were not late after all; the church was eating Father's Day Breakfast!
God is so good! We saw Bro. Harrod and his Preacher friends receive their License and heard a wonderful sermon about Christian service.

Later that night the zildren got to hear their dad quote some great verses for our memory verse competition that we are having at church. What a great way to stand up and be a man for Christ! I'm so thankful for what God has done and is doing in our lives.

We watered the van and took off down the road again. Heading toward home we stopped and enjoyed some burgers and the kids enjoyed an ice cream cone from their big brother Zach! The little ones had fun on the inside play ground and we headed home. God kept the engine cool all the way and we are so grateful! Thank you for all who were praying for our safety!

When He Moves Among Us!

This weekend was nothing more than amazing!

About this time every year my Mother's family has two family reunions one for each side of their family and in the same location. (Which I am very happy about it is very convenient) We went to the first one on Saturday and had a great time visiting with family and eating some great food. Then we went home and got ready for church for the next day was the Lord's day and another reunion in the afternoon.

We dropped in on Bro. White at Main Street Baptist Church and enjoyed a great Sunday school lesson that encouraged us to keep fighting the good fight and loving others!  Then I was asked to play the piano by my brother Andy who goes to church there. It was fun to be his pianist again like the old days back at Skyline when my Dad used to Pastor. After that we were called on to sing a few songs for the church. It was fun to add to their service and be with my brother and his family in worship. The zildren even got to go back with their Uncle Andy and enjoy his Sunday school room.

In the afternoon we traveled down the road again to the other family reunion and had some great food from some great cooks once again. Then we were huggin and visitin and once again had fun watching the reunion auction. Right before it was over my Mom told my husband that she wanted us to sing so right before everyone left my husband Lonnie got up and told the people not to leave yet because we would like to sing to them and many of them sat back down and we were privileged to sing to our family for a little while. My Aunt Patsy took some pictures of us and I am sharing them with you. Just remember we weren't all dressed for church most of the kids were in their running outside and climbing trees clothes.

That night we were scheduled to be at Calvary Baptist in Killeen, Bro. Sullivan's church. He wanted us to take the whole service and sing. Lonnie gave a devotional message of encouragement between each song and the spirit of God came down and filled the church. It was a really great experience to feel God's presence working in the service and encouraging hearts. The people were blessed and we had such a wonderful time basking in Gods spirit.

Then afterward we had to take a look at their new building project next door. The building is going to be very nice and a great tool in God's hands but I am saddened to know that the old building where I have had so many great memories of a childhood gone by is going to be removed because it is deteriorating. I spent many days as a child going to fellowships chasing around that church building with other preacher's kids and friends after inspiring sermons from great men of God!

Thank you Calvary Baptist for allowing us to come and share our ministry with you!

Loving Others

Sunday we were scheduled to be with the congregation at American Baptist Fellowship Church. (an independent Baptist Church in Temple, Texas) We were able to get there nice and early, ok a few minutes before they started and the kids asked if we could get out our new sound system that a preacher had given us. Bro. B said sure and the boys brought it in and set it all up. There were a couple of pops in the system since it had been sitting in storage for a while but after they worked their way out it was smooth sailing. It was so helpful and was a great blessing so that the people of the church could hear the message of our songs clearly.

After church the preacher and his wife had lunch ready for us and we really enjoyed a healthy lunch with lots of great fresh vegetables and cute little round sandwiches. Then we were privileged to be able to go with Bro. B and his family over to the nursing home where Bro. Chuck Hernandez (the Pastor of the church) was in rehab from having both of his legs removed from diabetes. He was feeling bad and they put him in a wheeled reclining chair and brought him out to a visiting room where we asked if he would like us to sing to him. We sang several songs and gave him a good Baptist singing right there in the rehab. We thought we would be ready to return to his room, but he was blessed and asked if my husband would preach to him for a while. Oh this blessed our heart and my husband prayed for just the right message for this dear man of God. God blessed and we could feel His spirit there working to encourage him.

Later, when we were finished with the night service and I was talking with the ladies Mrs. Hernandez told me that her husband wasn't feeling well when we got there but that he was feeling so good when we left he wanted to go back to his church and preach. Please pray that God's will be accomplished in his life and for the strength of his dear wife.

The zildren were blessed by Mrs. B who brought them some new guitar picks because they are trying to learn the guitar and Zoi had broken her favorite pick. (and only pick that her Dad had just bought her.) Thoughtfulness like this comes from the Lord I know!
It was so refreshing to sit and talk to the ladies there and listen to their stories. This  was just the best for my spirit. It is one of our ministry goals to be a blessing to as many people as we can.

Please keep praying for my pain levels to go down. I have arthritis, tendinitis, scoliosis and carpel tunnel and it is a challenge sometimes. Right now I am taking a wonderful supplement that really works great I have to be on it for a while before it does though. So pray that it soon kicks this pain away for good! Thank you.

The girls were playing around after service and I snapped a photo.

Rain Blessings and Sweet Friends in Lampasas!

Showers of Blessing!

Sunday night we were invited over to a sister church to enjoy a licensing service. We really enjoyed the preaching and the family enjoyed adding their music as well. I have a love for old church buildings so this one was extra special and fun for me. The preacher that was going to receive his licence to preach was Bro. B and he was a great Christian brother. After church there came a great pouring of rain and we decided that it would be better to wait the great part of the storm out.

My husband was talking to the preacher and he invited us all to come to his house to eat and wait it out for as long as we needed. This is one of the great distinctives of a good preacher; being  hospitable. When we got there the preacher's adult daughter led us to their living room and told us to make ourselves comfortable. Some of the kids colored pictures and some watched a children's movie. I went to check on helping in the kitchen and sweet lady there said that she didn't have anything for me to do.

When I returned to the living room I found one of my sons in a recliner so I joined him I was really tuckered out. We had attended 3 services that day and they were all wonderful. One at our home church in Temple another at a nursing home in town where the people were very sweet, and the last also in town at the sister church. God has been using us to brighten people's days. I'm so glad we can do this.

After a little while came Bro. B and his wife and they brought home some yummy Mexican food that we all could eat. They also brought out a long folding table and put it in their living room as well as some folding  chairs. What a blessing they were. Everyone was happy and enjoyed time getting to know one another.  The little kids even got to enjoy one of the "ancient" customs of floor skating in their socks down their hall. It was really a refreshing time and we made some new friends!

Unexpected Friends!

Wednesday we had plans to try to make it to a church in Killeen but we were not ready in time to get to that church so we went to plan B. We went to Lampassas Texas and we were surprised to see our great Missionary friends the Stevens there. We had been praying for them for a while now because Bro. Phil Stevens had been deathly sick in Africa and here he was staying with the pastor of this church who was a great friend of his. God works in mysterious ways because my husband and I were hoping to be able to see him and his wife on this journey of ours. He is always such a joy to be around. His spirit is always like a little piece of heaven.

It was so good to see Mrs. Melody and Bro. Phil but please keep him in your prayers right now he still has a long road of recovery to go. A real blessing they were to be with. Next as we were about to have a seat in the back row and listen to the service the Pastor there came by and asked if we wanted to sing and preach for them. Of course we were happy to do so and wanted to be a blessing to our dear friends. God moved and used us to brighten some more folks' night this time. I love how God can use a loud child's voice and enthusiasm to lift spirits to the Lord! I Praise the Lord when I hear about the tears in eyes because I know that we are being used right where God needed us!

The church there was good to us and the pastor and his wife handed us a huge bag of bagels and asked if we liked them. God works in mysterious ways for sure; we love bagels and have been enjoying the fruits (or bagels) of the Lord! God Bless each of these dear church families!

* A dear Christian brother and sister offered us their sound system that they had in storage and weren't using! This is a great praise and answer to prayer! We went out and picked it up from their house on Memorial Day and that was a joy to see them at their house.  Thank you so much!

Isn't it good to see God answering prayers?

Marble Falls Trip and The San Antonio Trip

We dropped in at one of my sister's church, Crossview Baptist Church, in Marble Falls. The Pastor there is Brother Brian Booth. The preaching was great; it was about being in God's will and the cross eyed Goliath. God used the people there to encourage us and we are praying for God to bless their congregation.

On Friday we spent the day at a King James Bible Conference which was held at Harvest Hill Baptist Church and were able to sing there about 6 songs through out the course of the day. We heard about 9 preachers preach the word of God with power. The ladies there served everyone attending some super good lunch and supper meals. Some of our children needed a new Bible so while we were there they were able to get some bibles at their book store and I picked them up some bible cases as well. God is good!

The kids met some great children there and before we left they were able to secure their contact information so that they can write to them. This was one of the things that they were praying about and God has already answered the cry of their heart. These were children that they could really identify with and were being raised very similar to themselves. God does things first class when he does them.

My husband was able to talk with Pastors about our ministry and give out several more of our prayer cards at this Conference and we will see what God chooses to do with them. He was really refreshed from this all day time with some great great men of God. Thank you for readying this blog and please keep our family in your prayers as we follow God's will one step or one mile at a time.

Nolanville Adventure

This past weekend we went to our home church in Temple, Calvary Baptist Church Pastor Bro. Rick Reed.  Then my husband decided that he would take us to eat at a Mexican restaurant for a Mother's Day treat. We had a good meal and the ladies that worked there offered their Mexican pastries to the kids.  I was impressed at their generosity so I asked if we could sing them a song. They said sure and we sang them 2 little songs.

Next we found the address to Christ Bible Baptist Church in Nolanville, Texas down the road. We set the GPS and sang ourselves down the road. We arrived a little early and were able to practice with their microphones before the service started. The Pastor there, Bro. Daily was so kind and allowed us to sing without much notice at all. My husband had met him earlier in the year at a fellowship meeting and he also knows my Dad. We know his daughter so it was a great blessing to be there with them.

We enjoyed a great singing service and heard an encouraging message from Bro. Dailey. I also enjoyed the prayer meeting that the ladies invited me to. It was great fellowship and we were enjoying the presence of the Lord! Mrs. Dailey was a huge blessing to me and made me feel loved. Its so nice to know there are Christians out there who stand for truth and right and love the brethren.

 The word says:

John 13:35 - By this shall all [men] know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

We are looking forward to being in San Antonio Friday at Harvest Hill Baptist Church at a King James Conference. Then on Saturday we are singing at the park in Marble Falls.

Pot Pie Easy Breezy

I just love pot pie but I do not love taking the time to make it the old fashioned way. So I came up with this simple easy way to put them together at home.

4 pie shells in a box from the refrigerated section of the store
4 cans of Progresso soup or your favorite canned soup.
2 packages of deep dish pie crusts (4 total)

1. Pour the cans in the crusts and cover with the crusts from the box and pinch closed.
2. Bake the pies until golden brown on 350 degrees.

Recognizing God In Our Lives!

This journey of ours into the traveling music ministry has been a large step of faith! Each step of the way we have had to trust our Heavenly Father to prepare the way and to provide in ways we have only hoped and dreamed possible. Every time we load up in the van to head out to church in Temple or to go to church somewhere else around here on Wednesdays, it is a faith walk. We seek God's face in every aspect of our journey. God is very real and we can see him in the little things working things out for our good and his glory!

Example: we had traveled into Georgetown to shop for Zeke a new suit for his birthday; we found one at the Goodwill there and it looks sharp! Anyway, that was one answer to prayer because we found that suit right away the first store we hit! But before we got there I stopped in the library in Bertram to use the bathroom because they have nice ones there and a thrift store near by. When I opened the door to the library I noticed that it was the door to the library's cafe so I quickly closed that door and went around to the other door and Zeb went in the cafe to see if there was something there small that he could spend his hard earned money on. The man there was kind and asked if he wanted a sample of his pecan cake. He said yes he did but he had 6 other brothers and sisters. So the man said he would give them all samples and he started warming up some samples for all of the kids. The kids came in from the van and had their samples. A nice policeman came in also and the kids all saluted him.  He thought that was great and was enjoying the kids. Mr. Policeman told  them that he was once home schooled as well. When I came back from the restroom all of this was unfolding in front of me and I felt God was there working everything out.

I looked around for any indication that this man was a Christian and I saw a frame that said that there really is a God in Heaven! So I began thinking to myself that this man was so kind to give of his cake to all of us (yes he gave me a sample also I just couldn't resist pecans so yummy!) and we should repay him with a song. I asked him if we could sing a song for him. After the kids finished stuffing their face with cake sample and the hot chocolate that some of them bought, we got set and sang them the song Stand Still and Let God Move which was really great because I knew that God was doing some moving for us! I felt his presence in that little cafe. When we were done with the song the man there said that he thought we deserved more than just samples that we deserved a full sized cake.

Again I knew that God was fixing to move because on the way to the store I had prayed in my heart silently that God would provide a meal for us and I didn't know how he was going to do it.  All of the other meals that we had received were all related to churches and we weren't going to be at a church for lunch, we were going to shop. But I told God that I knew he knew the front from the back and that he could arrange anything if he so chose to. So he did, right there in that little cafe he showed my children what faith was all about. I thanked that man and told him that I had enough family alone in the area to give him customers for a long time and that I would try to send them his way! We got in to the van and told the kids how God had just answered a prayer in a wonderful way and that we got to eat dessert for lunch!  They were thrilled just as I was and knew that this was not just a little thing but a great big thing that God sent just for us! But now I have told you this story of God's moving and it was just a piece of how God moved in that day, there was so much God did that day it would take me a couple more pages to express it all.

We are not wealthy people so to follow God in this ministry is just a matter of watching God come through for us over and over again. We stand amazed and in awe of what a mighty God we serve! Whether its what church we are going to visit on a Wednesday or the faith to eat a good meal after or before we get there. We have a running prayer list and the z-kids are starting to see how God will answer your prayers and be especially close and dear to those who are serving him in and by faith. To us its like a little bit of heaven and a healing balm to our souls.

I pray that you will recognize God's presence in your life; He is at work right now in your life don't fail to see it! He loves you and wants to be near you. You have only to reach out to Him and make him the center of your life!

Our New Adventure!

Recently, God moved us to a new church Calvary Baptist, and is changing our direction in ministry. We are now attending a church that is just over an hour away. We love our pastor and his stand on the Bible, winning souls, missions, the nursing home ministry, and many other things. The people there are a joy to be around and just down home real people.

Our ministry is leaning toward singing as a family at churches in the area every now and then. The kids are learning Bible verses in their new classes and we are seeing God work in our lives every time we attend a service.

Moving has been hard but God reassures us every time we go to church there that it was a good decision and the right one for us. Healing and restoration has begun for us and I thank God for what he is doing.

Below is a picture of our family eating at a Mexican Food Place there. We really loved the food and it went a long way. We were able to eat twice on the same meal like the miracle of the loaves and fishes. God is Good! Please pray for our family as we trust God for direction in our lives.

Our Fun Weekend Trip

Recently we went on a weekend vacation/sourcing trip. First we headed up to Glen Rose, Texas to visit the Big Rock Park.: our kids just love scampering around all of the large rocks/boulders. There are crevices that feel like caves and they can jump from rock to rock and just have a grand time.

Then we went on up to Fort Worth and stopped by Deny's to have a great supper before checking in at our Hotel. We had the whole Deny's to our self for most of the supper and then as we were leaving we found out that a lady that worked the register had a birthday the next day. Zeb mentioned that it was his birthday and my birthday, so we sang Happy Birthday to her and brightened her day! Her solemn look turned into a smile.

When we arrived at the hotel we had a bit of trouble with the rooms. We wanted our 2 rooms to be connected to each other but they put one room around the corner. That turned out just fine and the boys stayed in that suite: 2 in the couch room and 2 in the bedroom; while and the girls slept on the pull out couch in the second room of our suite. Then that night we needed our sheets and pillows for the couches which my wonderful husband called ahead about and they were not in the rooms so he had to ask for those as well. aThe lady at the desk didn't want to give us any. She said that they didn't have any. So my sweet husband reminded her that we spent a lot on those rooms and that she needed to find some even if she had to go get them out of the other rooms. It was quit ridiculous but that was the only trouble we had the rest of the trip was problem free and restful! The kids and their Dad went to the basketball court that the hotel had and played some basket ball. I on the other hand to a nice relaxing bath and hit the hay for rest and relaxation from all of my hard work at ebay and home.

The next morning we awoke and had our hot breakfast down stairs and then went to source a couple of hours for our ebay business. We got a bit tired from that or rather the kids and Dad did I was still ready to do that all day. lol We picked up a few things for the kids to play with while we were out and then headed to get sandwich fixings and go to the Top Of The Hill Terrace for the tour they have there. They do a tour about gangsters and their underground casino and how they were run out by Pastor J. Frank Norris and then a Baptist college was started there.

We came late in the day and our friend who runs the tour gave us our own private tour. We love Mrs. Bryant! After we were all done with that the zildren and Mom and Dad too,  gave Mrs. Bryant her own mini concert of us singing gospel songs. She just ate that up and enjoyed it with us. It was a sweet time!

Then we headed back to the hotel. The kids played some basket ball with a group of kids that were there and had a blast. They even learned a new basketball game they didn't know yet. Our teenage boys thought that was the best part of the trip accept for Sunday afternoon which we will get to in a minute.

The next day we went to a friend's church and enjoyed their beautiful sounding choir there and the friendly people. After that we went to eat with those friends at their house and saw their new house for the first time.  The kids just had a ball playing with their toddler boy, who was exceedingly smart and rolling with chubiness. Their baby girl was sweet and angelic as well. The couple was a sweet refreshment to our souls and I kinda wanted to take their house with me when I went home. Oh well maybe next time. Lol. After much conversation and laughter we pulled ourselves away so that we could get on the road.

We wanted to get on the road quickly because I had to get out a bunch of orders that we had received over the weekend and I knew that would take a long time. SO we headed to Temple so that we could go to a preacher friends church but when we got there for some reason they were not having services so we got on google and found another like minded church and as we pulled in to their church they were letting out of Sunday evening services.

We were going to check to make sure and pulled in to the lot. As we pulled in, we saw a couple that we had known when we were on deputation to be missionaries. They invited us to their house for some bottle water and fellowship and we told them we couldn't stay long. It was so nice that God put them on our path and we had another refreshing moment with them. The wife is a tutor of dyslexic children and she showed me her tutoring room and what all she was doing. I told her that one of my z-kids was struggling with reading and she suggested some games and methods that we could use. She was such a sweetheart and you could see how much God had blessed her with a passion for those children!

We finally made it back home, packed the items to ship and fell into bed happy that we had been blessed so much as a family to have such a smooth trip and so many happy memories to think back on when the way gets rough. I am very thankful today because just remembering all of this to share it with you has made my burdens of the day lift and I can now see the sun again through the clouds.

We Upgraded!

I'm so excited!  Yesterday we upgraded to the next store the Premium Store on Ebay. We are starting to sell better and we are looking forward to bringing home the husband! My husband is getting excited also. I'm trying to set listing goals of 12 to 15 items listed a day Monday through Friday and this is helping me to see improvements that need to be made. I have sent more items to the thrift that just aren't selling to make room for items that will sell because we haven't gotten our new storage facility yet although we are planning on getting it this month sometime or the next.

I would love to take some questions for those out there who are just getting started selling online. So if you are new to selling and would like to ask me a question I will do my best to answer as quickly as possible.

Recently one of the kids was out at their Papa's house and found this large cow bone to bring back for our sweet dog. She really loved it!

Off To The Bins

We are so excited. Last night the husband loaded up the zildren and I and we took our first road trip to the Goodwill Bins! I have been wanting to go there for a long time but I am not used to driving in Austin traffic so I wanted my husband to take me first so that I can get used to going there. In retrospect I should have been driving and him directing me. Oh boy that probably would have been very scary for the zildren. lol.

Our van has been under the weather for most of the year so when we started getting it in good running order then it just fell in line in my husband's mind to step up our business with a trip to Austin to try out the bins. Anyway, we got there after much driving and a trip to Taco Bell. Before we went in we prayed and we divided into sourcing teams.

After getting the ok from a employ at the bins we allowed our children to take off and start finding great treasures and take them back to the cart that was parked in the center. I told them that they didn't have to get it approved and that I would look at it after we were done before we bought it.

I got really sore but we had so much fun finding great treasures. Some people would not like going to the bins because they are really messy and not always organized out just dumped all together but this was right up our alley and we are hooked.

We plan on eventually going there on a regular basis. My dear hubby is still working out some kinks on our van so that I will feel super safe. I also have some clothes from the haul that I need to get listed first as well. Here is another video for ya'll to watch.
