Diverticulitis

 I have a friend with diverticulitis and this post is for that friend and anyone else who could use some help. Diverticulitis is a condition where there is a pocket of diverticulosis that forms and can become infected producing  fever, bloating or nausea. There is help with diet and supplements.

DIET:
You should limit your diet during an episode to bland easily digestible food. This means that you should not have spicy food,  no salads or raw vegetables, no processed foods, milk products, coffee, wines or sodas. Undigested food worsens the problem.

SUPPLEMENTS:

Activated Charcoal - to deal with the gas
Bifidophilus - this is a probiotic to increase the good flora in your intestines.
Aloe Vera Juice to provide natural sodium, the lining of the stomach 
Slippery Elm- to sooth and aid the bowel and inflammation.
 Psyllium Seeds  (not hulls) are the most easily tolerated fibers. 
Continue the program for at least 8 weeks to see results.

Acne

Acne is a skin condition that shows an inner problem. There are several types of Acne some with white heads and some with black heads, some with nodules and some with cysts all can be quite a bother. All of these things strengthen the case of your acne. Many health conditions stem from the colon. If the colon is healthy then the body is a whole lot healthier.

Mashed Potato Doughnuts

I had some mashed potatoes left over from last night so I decided to use them up this morning. I have always heard that potatoes make great doughnuts. I don't use a lot of sweetener so if you want it sweeter you might want to put some kind of glaze on. Here's the recipe.

1 1/2 cups of honey
3 cups of mashed potatoes
4 cups of white flour
4 cups of white wheat flour
1 tablespoon sourdough
5 tsp baking powder
6 eggs
1/2 cup of oil
1 and 1/2 cups water

Stir together potatoes and honey into a paste add eggs and beat then stir. Add oil and water stir. Then add all of the dry ingredients and stir with a wooden spoon. Press out to a 1/2 inch thickness and cut with a doughnut cutter or two different round cutters that will make a doughnut shape. I used a tin can with a whole in the top and  the lid off of my pepper shaker for the hole. Deep fry on each side until golden brown. Serve!
