The Pickle Who Ate a Cucumber

Once there was a pickle who ate a cucumber.  The cucumber was made out of cheese and the cheese was pimento cheese.  Then the pickle turned yellow but the yellow was green.  Then the pickle realizing that he had eaten the cucumber and cucumber was where pickles came from and realizing that he was a cannibal, began to sing, "Yanky Doodle."  And as we all know that leads to having a sore throat made out of cheese. That's how the pickle got a cheesy sore throat!

Rory's Story Cubes

There is this great game called Rory's Story Cubes.  The cubes are dice with pictures on them. There are dice with actions and dice with objects on them.  You roll the dice and you make up a story with the pictures on the cubes.  This game would be good for me because I sometimes have problems starting a story.  I really love telling stories because my brothers laugh and it makes me happy to hear them.  Once I told them a story about a pickle that ate everything. My brothers just laughed and laughed and laughed. I would suggest that you mix the action cubes with the object cubes to make a more interesting story. Either way its still lots of fun. I have included a video from A Dice Tower Review to show you just how this game works.

Microwave Tea Jelly

The other day I tried an experiment to see if microwave jelly would work and yeah it did! Its not totally done in the microwave but the water is heated in the microwave. You can use the microwave but its better to only use a small amount of water. Dr. Weil explains in his article, Nuking your nutrients? that less water is better.

* In a coffee cup heat up the water you are planning to make your tea in and then add two tea bags and cover with a saucer for steeping.
* Next heat up a clean, quart, glass, canning jar half full with water and place it in the microwave and heat for whatever your boiling time is. (I have a tea button on mine that works well for this)
* Then remove with a hot pad and stir in your pectin, sweetener and flavoring.
* Add to your quart jar the tea that you have made and stir very well.
* Cover your jelly with a lid and  refrigerate until set. Now you will have to eat it up within a week or so. I would suggest smelling it before eating it to be safe.

If you try this please let me know what flavors you try.

Daddy's Birthday Party!

Last night after church we went to a Mexican food place and ate with the family.  We hardly ever eat out so this was a big time celebration for us.  My parents in-law and my parents came and Lonnie had such a good time.  Before we left we decided to sing a song for the party guests and the few people that were left in the dining hall.  The sound carried really well and I felt free to sing to the honor and glory of the Lord!  As we were leaving we were asked if all of the children were singing and we told them yes they were.  From there we proceeded to Nana's house to enjoy some free cake. (my DH is sensitive to white sugar and hf corn syrup it causes him to have a sinus infection and that's any little bit)  It was a really nice night and then we came home and Daddy saw all of the cards and gits that the children made for him and I could tell that he was feeling really blessed!  Here is a photo of the birthday boy tweaked at for free!  You can also pay for the premium features.

The Rubber Band Trick

rubberband water glasses
Whole New Mom
Many times at our house in the past we have had a hard time identifying our water glasses and have cup up short on glasses. We would always be washing glasses through out the day and it would be a real nuisance to go to the shelf and not found a thing. Then I came across a great blog post about this very subject and the writer had great advise about how to remedy this situation. Just save use a different colored rubber band for each cup. I didn't have all of these rubber bands so I have used hair bands and today my DS decided to share his silly bands and we would have a day of silly bands for their glasses. I was really sweet of him and we all had cute characters on our drinks and it made the day more fun! I hope this is a help to you as well. Don't forget to check out the other post by clicking through the picture. She has some great information on her sight about health and energy as well.

Christmas Oatmeal!

Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal
Closet Cooking

Today I made Christmas Oatmeal! It was pretty good too for oatmeal. It also has the ability too be quick and easy as well which really helps this time of year.  The great side effect is that it is a great air freshener as well. Here is my list of .... (a little of this and a little of that)

fill a large pot half way with water and set it to boil
add a nice pour of sea salt
add several shakes of cinnamon
a good shake of cloves
a good shake of all spice
several shakes of ginger

When it boils add 7 cups of oatmeal and turn down your water to about 6 and cook for 1 or 5 minutes depending on your type of oatmeal. Then take off the burner. I set out some honey on the table and spooned up some oatmeal onto their paper plates. (yes I use paper plates for anything that will work when available) After this I allow the children to add their own honey, pray and eat.

I guess if you had some apple cider or juice it could be apple cider oatmeal or even add chunks of apple.

Children are A Blessing: Movie Review

The movie Children are a Blessing

Children are a Blessing
Children are a Blessing Trailer from Moore Family Films on Vimeo.
I like it because it teaches children are a blessing and not a burden.  If you think that children are a burden than you have been deceived. I am from a family of 9, I have 6 siblings.  I think that if you take a look at the Moore family and my family you might think it might be hard with all of those kids but like I said they are not a burden they are a blessing! I love this movie I hope you love it too!

Immune Boosters!

My friend has picked up a bug and I wanted to give her a page of references to help. It seems like I am always giving out this information and I wanted to have it all in one place so that I could pass it out better. If your bug is nosy  or maybe your stomach is in knots, (By the way what vegetable can tie your stomach in knots? String beans :) Then maybe this post will be a blessing to you in some way. I hope the little joke cheered you a bit a good spirit is definitely part of a speedy recovery.

#1. Garlic! is a great aid in getting you through any kind of virus or bacteria.  If you are interested in
Garlic for Your Health
and garlic oil is more about what you can do with fresh garlic.

#2. Vitamin C if you haven't heard already builds your immune system. There are the different forms of vitamin C that are available.
#3.  Echinacea is another immune booster that we keep in our medicine and herb cabinet here at our house my husband always downs some of these when he has a hint of anything to keep him going to work and supporting his family of 9. He even recommends this to his friends.
#4 Elderberry - another immune booster.

#5.  Probiotics- are key for taking care of a the upset stomach whether it is a one time affair, a virus or an ongoing problem. Probiotics have been removed from most store bought breads and replaced with yeasts that are not good for us. Below are the probiotics for adults or children. It is also possible to include probiotics by including them in your diet with yogurt or sourdough or a number of fermented foods which I shall be writing about at a later date.

#5.  Ginger- Whether fresh or in a supplement will give you a boost or protect you in the winter season.

Sometimes I make a whole pot of ginger tea in the sick months and keep it ready all day for the sickies.

You can also do salt baths with a little of these herbs (a bath infusion) in them which will infuse them into your body. I hope you get better and if you need anything don't hesitate to ask via the comment section. Salud!

Christmas Crafts with the Zkids

Merry Christmas Everyone!

The Zkids were in the church Christmas play last night and did a great job although I must say my little twin darlings are not quite the actors that their older brothers and sisters are yet. My angel Nora was cute for sure but  at one point I think she became a fallen angel; about the time when she was trying to pull apart the camp fire. While brother, Loty (the cutest shepherd ever) was so scared and upset about the whole thing that he stood crying with his bottom lip quivering until Mom came and sat on the stage with him on her lap so that he could make it through without all of the tears. I just couldn't handle all of the sadness and I didn't figure anyone else could either.  After that he was just fine and sat without a problem on his Mommy. Nora and Zena were great at flying across the stage for everyone but a little distracting. Oh well, I guess that's just how littles are. Zach did a great job saying his lines and spoke out for all to hear. Zoi was a very lovely angel with cuteness abounding. Zeke did a really great job as the lead in the choir and sand out nice and sang out nice and strong like a boy angel and Zeb was a handsome choir member as well singing beautifully. I will be taking a little break for the holidays but hopefully when get back to work here I will have more pictures for you to see.

Here is another blog that has some great paper crafts!

Finding the Right Church or Calling the Right Pastor #2

My family and I were talking at the supper table not long ago and I thought that there should be another post on finding the right church or calling the right pastor. So here it is I hope that God will get all the glory and this will help the church to stay strong in these last days!

(A Bishop is the same as a pastor)
My Pastor Bro. May
(1Ti 3:1) This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
(1Ti 3:2) A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
(1Ti 3:3) Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
(1Ti 3:4) One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
(1Ti 3:5) (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
(1Ti 3:6) Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
(1Ti 3:7) Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

To find a good Church you must:

#1. Make sure the preacher has nothing to do with the red highlighted words above and all to do with the green ones:)
#2. Check out his wife-she should be like the godly women of the Bible.
#3. Check out his children-they should be well behaved and godly.

Macular Degeneration of the Eyes

If you are not familiar with Macular Degeneration it is the the loss of vision in the center of the your eye and the damage of the retina. Here are some symptoms:

*Straight lines look wavy
*Distinct shapes are blurry
*Colors look dim
*Words appear blurred or difficult to read
*Dark or blank areas block the center of your vision
*There appears to be a fog in the center of your vision
The cause of Macular Degeneration is from free radical damage.
Lack of ability to digest nutrients properly.
Is present with condition such as diabetes and high blood pressure
Smokers have a higher risk, about 40%
Drugs that can cause MD as well as over the counter pain medicines (NSAIDS)

Recommended  Foods:

Google for web sites that cater to foods good for M.D.
High antioxidant fruits and vegetables (look for dark colors not light)
High antioxidant health drinks like Thai Go
Flax Seed Oil- was suggested by Dr. Hatch of Surprise, AZ to help draw toxic accumulations out the eye and lubricate the eye.

Recommended Supplements:

*Perfect Eyes - super good formula for the eyes have seen really good results from this.
*Lutein (Lutein serves as a potent free radical scavenger for the retina)
* Grapine - strengthens capillaries, arteries and veins, improves circulation, reduces capillary fragility and nerve damage in the eye.
*Bilberry (which is also in Perfect Eyes)improves circulation in the blood vessels of the eye, helps maintain the integrity of capillaries, stabilizes collagen, and stimulates the production of rhodopsin essential for night vision.
* VariGone to improve the overall tone and strength of veins and capillaries, maintain healthy vein constriction and dilation, descrease vascular permeability, promote blood flow. The ingredients in VariGone maximize vascular integrity.
* Vitamin C Timed Release. Vitamin C helps make collagen which strengthens the capillaries that nourish the retina, protects against UV light and is a powerful antioxidant. The eye contains the second highest concentration of vitamin C in the body next to the adrenal glands.
* You also want to cleanse and support the Liver, which in Chinese medicine is responsible for the health of the eyes.
* GreenZone is an excellent, natural dietary powdered formula containing organic grasses, algae, herbs and other nutrients. The link between maintaining healthy vision and a healthy diet, which specifically includes 3-5 servings of vegetables a day, has been established. For those individuals who do not meet this daily requirement, this is an excellent formula for providing essential nutrients and enzymes needed by the body for proper functioning.
* Zinc may be helpful in protecting against vision loss due to macular degeneration. It is found in high concentrations in the eye, and helps bind the protective layer of the retina to the underlying tissue. We recommend up to 30 mg daily.

Candy Canes! Plus Cake!

Here is the story that tells you about the original maker of the candy cane and what he wanted his candy to represent just scroll down to the end of the page after you click on the picture.

Here is a video of the production of candy canes in the factory. Its a video field trip!

I really like candy canes because they are red!

Here is an awesomely yummy looking recipe!

Sourdough Peach Cobbler (what's wrong with store bought bread?)

Sourdough is the REAL THING! What I'm saying is that I want the world to know that the reason they are suffering from CELIAC disease is because in an effort to make our bread have a shelf life and be more convenient for our fast paced world we have shot ourselves in the foot. The store bought yeast has the gluten sticking to your intestines and causing mal-absorption of our necessary nutrients. With sourdough the gluten is properly digested, the system stays regular, and more good bacteria is added to the system (like yogurt) aiding the health of your digestive system.  If you are interested in learning
how to make sourdough and its health benefits don't hesitate to stop by.  Seriously, it has made a difference in the life of myself and my family. I'm always looking for ways to add it to more of our baking.

Today we are doubling the biscuit recipe on the can (baking powder) but instead of one half of the baking powder we are using a cup of sourdough.

Add to that

Cinnamon a good three shakes maybe more needed for taste and for balancing the sugars
A good tsp. or a tsp. and a half or vanilla (imitation or real)
1/2 cup of honey

Mix your dough and roll it out on a floured or oiled board.
Take your pizza cutter and cut long inch thick strips of dough to lattice over your canned peaches (enough to cover the bottom of your pan) peaches in a large casserole sprayed with oil. Cook for long enough to brown the top of the dough. Enjoy! Let me know if you try this and how it turns out for you!

Merry Christmas!

Day 2: Advent Trinity Biscuits

This morning I wanted a little something extra in my biscuits that was sweet because we don't have a lot of money for sweeteners so I decided to go with the can of carrots that we had in the pantry. Then I wanted to put a Christmas theme to it or at least a theme that was godly so this is what I came up with: the trinity, the three king makers, the three wise men, the three gifts, etc.  If you think of something else please drop me a comment. Enjoy!

Mix up about three to four recipes of your favorite biscuit recipe or the one on the can that's what I do. Then I added a little Christmas spirit to them honey (one big squirt), cinnamon and a tsp of vanilla. After you make them into the biscuit shape at a tiny dollop of honey on the top and add three carrots. Bake the biscuits and serve with honey or honey and butter.

Candy Cane Bicuits

I was thinking about breakfast, as I always do, and I wanted to do something Christmasy (new word) so I decided to make some candy cane biscuits. I don't know if I will do it but I might just turn this into an advent thing something Christmasy every morning. I am also saving a little back every morning so that I can use it for stocking stuffers. Here goes.

Just mix up a quadruple amount of biscuit dough recipe off  of your baking powder can but separate half into another bowl and when you add the wet ingredients add red food coloring enough to make the color a dark pink  (about a 1/8 teaspoon or so, you can few drops at a time to see what you like)  and some peppermint extract to give it a punch (I didn't do this I didn't have any) about a teaspoon.

Then just oil your board or table break off  inch pieces and spray your pieces with oil too. Roll back and forth with a fluid motion to create the strands and then roll together to form candy canes or peppermint sticks. The Zkids wanted to help so I gave them their own work space at the kitchen table and we all took off working on our candy canes. I think everyone was in the Christmas spirit and loved the memory making experience. We even had some Christmas music going in the background. They sort of looked like cookies but blended a little better.

Clams of Speech #7

The crab did not tell General Clam where it was therefore the General threw him into sea prison.  then they thought that all they had to do was to find the oyster and all their problems would be solved.  The set out again on the path that the crab had been following. The soon realized that the crab had been on the last part of his journey when they found him. They went just a little further and they found the oyster. They looked in and they saw the pearl. The clams tried to use its power but there was one problem it didn't have any power. The clams were just about to give up when suddenly a sea zebra came by and told them that all of the clams really didn't need a pearl to talk.  They could already talk they just needed to try.  They did try and slowly began to utter their first sentences. Their first sentences spoke of what they wanted their names to be. The one clam that thought negative about everything got his name first. His name was, Negatory.  The clam which was positive got the name of Sam and the clam that was unsure of himself all the time, was called Max and felt more sure of himself because he could say what he wanted to say. At last they returned back home and told all of the other clams what had happened to them, how they had become the "clams of speech."

Gingerbread Cookies

Preheat to 350

I really love gingerbread because ginger is so healthy for you. Ginger energizes the immune system and calms the stomach and besides all of the that it really tastes good and is fun to make. This recipe has been doubled already. Merry Christmas!

2 1/2 sticks lightly salted butter, softened
2 1/3 cups honey or sweetener
1 tsp. orange peel or 2 zested oranges

Dry Ingredients:
8 cups flour plus additional for rolling, if you need
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoon ground dry ginger
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground allspice
4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon kosher salt

The wet:
4 eggs
1 cup dark molasses
The juice of 2 lemons

In a large bowl mix together all of the dry ingredients

In another bowl whisk together the wet ingredients

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients on low until thoroughly combined. Flour your surface and divide you dough into 1/4ths. Place your bowl of dough into another bowl with ice in the bottom and let that sit until you have finished making the orange icing.  Then roll the dough out and cut the ginger bread men out remembering not to make them too thin. They are more moist when they are a little plump.

Orange Icing:
2 cups powered sugar
Finely grated zest of 2 oranges
2 to 3 tablespoons of 100% orange juice
1/2 teaspoon light honey
1 tsp. vanilla

In a large bowl add all ingredients and whisk them if it is a bit too thick add a bit more orange juice or water to thin it out.

Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or longer if you do not use honey. When the cookies are cooled then you can ice them and you can even stack two together with icing in between. Another thing you can do is press them into cookie molds.

3 Reasons Why: Church is not a game!

Hi, today I would like to show you why it is not good to play around in church.

#1. Why do you go to church?  the reason why you go to church should be because you want to learn about God, not to play around with your buddies. You can do that after church.
#2. We should be serious about church.  Why do we have to be serious you may ask me, because people get saved in church and you might get saved in church if you haven't already.
#3. Do you ever pay attention to the preacher's sermon? Well, you might get a message from it-but if you are playing around with your friends, texting your friends, or taking a nap then you will miss what God has to say to you personally. This is why we should be serious in church.

Clams of Speech #6

The guard at the lava river was a sea horse minitar. The minitar's name was Randolph. When the clams arrived the minitar stood motionless with a stiff face. It almost looked like he was a statute until he told them the riddle. Q: "What is black and white and has a curly tale?" The clams put their clam heads together and conferred about the answer; clams don't really have much of a head though. They were stumped. They couldn't come up with an answer no matter how hard they tried. Suddenly a sting ray swam by and answered the riddle A: " a sea zebra"  General crab and his gang scudded across the lava river and approached the giant crab.  The crab still thought they were confused because he thought they were just coming back for directions but soon he found out that they were not foiled anymore and they would not fall for any of his shenanigans anymore. They captured the crab and the General threatened to put him in sea prison if he did not tell them where the oyster was.

to be continued........

Never Leave Jesus out of Christmas

Hi, today I would like to show you the real meaning of Christmas.  Its a little bit about love and care. But I said that it is a little bit about love and care that doesn't mean it is the real meaning. The real meaning of Christmas is about Jesus being born: he lived a good life and his blood that he shed was our Christmas gift! Remember when you are going to parties, making Christmas crafts, singing Christmas carols and putting up decorations that Jesus is the gift of Christmas and we should think about what he is to us and make Him the center of the season!

How is your tongue?

The Chinese and those who practice Chinese herbal medicine
 use the tongue to evaluate
the health of the whole body.

Recently, I have been having problems with my tongue and the problems have not gotten better like at other times that I have had problems with my tongue. I have been trying to stay away from certain things that I know would cause me pain and sores but the problems persisted. In search of a solution herbally or with supplements; I began research and came across this great resource that has tons of information and is so well researched and written out that anyone could learn from it and pin point the reason for their geographic tongue and other tongue problems that are effecting many people. If your doctor has told you that GT is not something that they can treat and that you will basically have to live with it, then this is the book for you. You can get real answers and real solutions to many of your tongue problems like: cracks, teeth indentations, sores, white tongue, black tongue, yeast tongue, beefy tongue etc.
In the book you will find information you need to use vitamins, minerals, diet, and healthy solutions for the health of your tongue and your entire system.

If you are interested in any of the vitamins or supplements that are mentioned in this book then you can order most or all of them from here and if you need help finding a certain one then email me.

Baked bagel flavored doughnuts plus a loaf of bread.

Here is a recipe that I just made up. We like the taste of bagels and I found a way to create that same texture with sourdough and yeast and a few other ingredients.

Baked bagel flavored doughnuts:

4 teaspoons dry yeast
one cup of sourdough
1 cup of honey
8 tablespoons of warm (not hot) water
2 teaspoons salt
1c.quick oats
4 eggs
4 cups of white flour
4 cups of wheat flour
cooking oil of your choice in a spray bottle
2 cups of hot water

Add the yeast to a the warm water and the honey and allow it to bubble while you are getting the other steps done. In a mixing bowl add the dry ingredients and mix on low then make a well and add the eggs, sourdough and yeast mixture when ready. If it is not ready yet make sure your oven is set to 400 degrees and your cookie sheets are oiled with your spray oil and oil a bread pan as well.
click on the picture for info
Mix on low and use a rubber spatula to incorporate the ingredients from the sides into the middle until it becomes more or less a solid glob of dough:)Spray a large cutting board or a table with oil like you would with flour getting a light even covering. Also don't for get to spray your rolling pin and a little for the insides of your dough nut cutter.
With a dough scraper (I use a rubber one they are very handy and help you to use all of your ingredients when baking. Waste not want not!) Scrape up about a forth of your glob and place it onto the board. Then spray the top with your oil. Then grab your rolling pin and roll out until you have a thick circle to cut your dough nuts. Cut them scooting the cutter a little until it cuts all the way through to the board and then lift and cut all of the other ones until you are done and on to the next 1/4th. Do 3/4ths of the dough and leave your last 1/4th for shaping into a bread loaf don't forget to spray the top each time. Cook your dough nuts on 400 degrees for about 12 minutes and wait to cook your bread right before your next meal and it should be nice and risen. Load inot the oven and turn your oven back on and it should finish heating while your bread is inside rising a little more. Cook until brown on top about 16 to 18 minutes. Blessings!
