Sourdough Sweetened Cookies

Have you ever wanted to bake some sugar cookies but didn't want them to be bad for you. Here is a solution our family came up with. Don't forget to save a couple for Daddy if you make them during the day while he is at work.

2 cups of sourdough starter
31/2 cups all-purpose or white wheat flour
1cup of butter. softened (butter is good for your teeth)
2 teaspoons of salt
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
2 cups of white sugar (or healthy sweetener of your choice we usually use honey)
4 teaspoons baking powder
2 eggs
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.

1. Preheat oven to 350 (175 degrees C). I've been skipping the greasing the cookie sheet because most of them are non-stick now days (it saves a few pennies and if you get the pan straight to the sink afterwards any stuck on will come right off. Grease if you must!
2. Cream all of the creamy ingredients. Add the dry ingredients a little at a time until all the mixture is smooth.
3. Drop by teaspoons onto baking sheets. Bake at 350 for 10 to 12 minutes.
