Sciatica has been an interest of mine for a long while so I have delved deeper into gaining knowledge about it. Sciatica as described in the Wikipedia Encyclopedia, " is a set of symptoms including pain that may be caused by general compression and/or irritation of one of five nerve roots that give rise to the sciatic nerve, or by compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve itself. The pain is felt in the lower back, buttock, and/or various parts of the leg and foot. In addition to pain, which is sometimes severe, there may be numbness, muscular weakness, pins and needles or tingling and difficulty in moving or controlling the leg. Typically, the symptoms are only felt on one side of the body.
Although sciatica is a relatively common form of low back pain and leg pain, the true meaning of the term is often misunderstood. Sciatica is a set of symptoms rather than a diagnosis for what is irritating the root of the nerve, causing the pain. This point is important, because treatment for sciatica or sciatic symptoms will often be different, depending upon the underlying cause of the symptoms."
Here are some recipies and suggestions from those who have suffered from sciatica and had relief of pain:
Recipe #1
If you have the oils it work like a charm..
5 drops Helichrysum
4 droops Rosemary
4 drops Sandalwood
2 drops Peppermint

Recipe #2 (less costly if you don't have the oils already)

> I use Everflex (2 in the morn. & 2 at night) and massage area with
> Lavender first, then Lobelia Essence, Tei Fu Oil and Capsicum, in that order.
> When you want something to penetrate deep, relax the
> area first!!

Recipe #3

#1 chiropractic care ASAP!
#2 have a client that had sciatica problems (letter carrier) and the
sciatica homeopathic helped but did not totally relieve it. He started
doing 2 t. Silver Shield 2x/day and immediately felt improvement after just
24 hours.
#3 the homeopathic needs to be taken frequently --- under the tongue, and
applied to the area where the pain is felt (with a spritzer bottle)
#4 spray the are with Nature¹s Fresh after each application of the

Recipe #4

sciatica homeopathic
massage therapy / reflexology
stretching the piriformis muscle
applying capsicum, lobelia & tei fu oil all over lower back, spine and hips (across buttock too)
epsom salt soak (1-2 cups per bath)

many times sciatica comes from tight muscles in hip, all these things help this and maybe also consider anti-inflammatories like PLSII, IF Relief, etc.

I hope these things are a help to you and yours.

I no longer sell these fine products but you can find most of them at Natures Sunshine or other fine health food stores.
